Shopify Suffers Biggest Drop Ever on Slowing Growth Outlook


Shopify Inc. plunged 17% in Toronto, the most ever, after giving a weaker outlook for growth this year, as online spending resets and consumers face higher inflation.  “The Covid-triggered acceleration of ecommerce that spilled into the first half of 2021 in the form of lockdowns and government stimulus will be absent from 2022,” the Canadian e-commerce firm said in a statement on Wednesday. “There is caution around inflation and consumer spend near term, for the full year.””

PayU to Be a Pioneer of Payments Routing and Approval Technology With Patent

Visa Tumbles on Amazon Ban in U.K. as Fight on Card Fees Expands


Amazon.com Inc. will stop accepting purchases made with Visa Inc. credit cards issued in the U.K. starting next year, the latest escalation by the online retailer in its push against transaction fees charged by payment networks. Amazon users were told of the changes this week. After making purchases they received a notification from the company saying that from Jan. 19, 2022 “we will no longer accept Visa credit cards issued in the U.K.” due to the high fees charged to process transactions.”

Amazon Customers Will Be Able to Pay With Venmo Next Year


“Starting next year Amazon customers will be able to pay on Amazon.com and Amazon’s mobile shopping app via Venmo, the mobile payment service owned by PayPal. It’s the latest deal inked by Amazon to give customers another way to pay for products on its marketplace. Earlier this year it partnered with Affirm to let customers buy products in monthly payments. PayPal announced the deal as part of its third quarter earnings. Venmo processed $60 billion in total payment volume for the quarter, up 36%.”
