Samsung Wallet Rolling Out to 13 New Markets This Year

“Introduced first back in 2013 as Samsung’s mobile wallet system, Samsung Wallet became Samsung Pay in 2015, and then bounced back in early 2022. After being announced at the Samsung Unpacked event in February 2022, Samsung Wallet rolled out in June. Today, the platform is available in essential markets such as China, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States. According to Samsung, “the platform will be even more widely available for users in Bahrain, Denmark, Finland, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Norway, Oman, Qatar, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Vietnam and UAE” by the end of the year. Jeanie Han, EVP and Head of Digital Life Team at Mobile eXperience Business, Samsung Electronics, revealed that the company aims to bring Samsung Wallet “to as many markets as possible, as soon as possible.”

Curve, the ‘over-the-top’ Banking Platform, Adds Support for Samsung Pay

“Curve , the London-based “over-the-top banking platform,” has added support for Samsung Pay in the U.K., making it easy for Samsung smartphone owners to pay using their mobile phone, regardless of who they bank with. The new feature is enabled by Curve’s ability to consolidate all of your bank cards into a single Curve card. This means that once you register your Curve card with the Samsung Pay app, you can link any of your other Mastercard and Visa debit or credit cards too.”

According to the data compiled by WiseApp, some 6.94 million users of Android-powered smartphones used Samsung Pay at least once last month.”
