A central bank wanted to better understand other market approaches to open banking, with a particular emphasis on payments initiation. Glenbrook conducted a multi-country review to help inform the bank’s efforts.
Glenbrook, in coordination with the central bank, identified key markets for review. We conducted desk research and expert interviews to complement our existing market knowledge. Efforts culminated in an in-depth workshop with the client paired with a PowerPoint deliverable.
The research effort showcased a variety of market approaches to open banking. For example, some markets had live open banking regulations that specifically enabled payments initiation by non-banks. Other jurisdictions did not yet have live regulations, but instead promoted market-led ‘open banking-like’ capabilities . The central bank used these insights, and others, to help inform their open banking efforts.
