As large US companies gain experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts, costs are falling. A study comissioned by Deloitte, E&Y, PWC, and KPMG surveyed 58 large companies and 66 smaller companies. Among larger companies the average cost of compliance dropped 44% in 2005, to $4.8 million.
