Small Merchants Seek Relief from High Credit Card Fees

Today's New York Times highlights the efforts of smaller merchants to reduce credit card processing fees. With processing fees being often the third- or fourth-largest expense for a small business, merchants are using various tactics: some have introduced split pricing (charging a lower price for cash) and others are encouraging customers to pay with PIN-based debit cards.
