Situation

A global NGO was investing in financial inclusion initiatives in a South Asian country. A core pillar of their investment portfolio centered on developing robust payments infrastructure. For example, the NGO was working with a government agency to implement a P2G and eGovernment platform. Glenbrook was asked to support this initiative by providing multi-year technical, operational, and strategic guidance. 

Approach

Glenbrook’s efforts took the form of a two-year, two-phased engagement. Through a combination of technical assessments, desk and stakeholder market research, and analyses, Glenbrook assessed the platform’s ability to successfully serve the low-income end user market for the P2G use case. We then deepened our work with the platform provider, offering technical assistance, business and operational analyses, and capacity-building to prepare the platform for a broader market launch and to prepare or its continued success and sustainability. For example, we worked to help deepen market capabilities associated with the unique needs of low-income women end users by conducting quantitative and qualitative research, and by preparing a related ‘gender playbook’ to help increase usage by women. Glenbrook shared out deliverables as they were created, often pairing them with participatory workshops with the key stakeholders.  

Impact

Glenbrook was delighted to help ensure the success of the P2G platform, which is now live in market and scaling every month. The following graphic showcases some summary observations following our two-year effort.
